**Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:**

Psalm Chapter 27 & 28 (The Key Passage is Psalm 27:14)

The Psalmist cried out to God in Psalm 27. He declares God as his light, his salvation, his help, the lifter of his head, and his defense. He calls him Lord. He says that even his own mother and father have left him, but that God continues to be faithful. He has received protection from God. He then admonishes us to be strong and courageous and wait for the Lord. You may be in a desert place right now. You may not feel that God "has your back," but He does. He is working out his will for you even when you cannot sense it. Trust in the dark what you have seen in the light. There will come a day when you will look back and see how God was with you even in the hardest times. Wait on the Lord. He is near.

**Strength and Courage are mentioned in these chapters. What are you waiting for currently that requires strength and courage?**

**We are called to wait on the Lord. His timing is perfect. Where have you seen this in your own life?**

**Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:**

Psalm Chapter 1 & 2 (The Key Passage is Psalm 1:1-2)

Believers are called to be different. We are to stand out. We are not to look like the world, walk in step with the world, or even near the road of sin that leads to destruction. When the jokes become course, do you laugh with everyone else? After all, you weren't the one who told the joke. You're just joining in with an innocent giggle. When gossip is presented to you, do you turn toward it for another juicy morsel or do you turn away from it making it clear that you're not interested? Each day, the believer has opportunities to stand firm and to stand out. Be different. Don't blend in with the crowd. Be like the tree planted by streams of water. Yield your fruit. Your leaf will never wither. Claim the promise of the one who walks with God.

**What is the difference between walking in step with sinners and standing in the way that sinners take?**

**How and when do you meditate on God's Word? If this is not a regular practice for you, how and when will you begin?**

**Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:**

Esther Chapter 4 (The Key Passage is Esther 4:14)

The story of Esther reminds us of God's sovereignty. Through a series of events, Esther, a Jewish orphan girl, became queen of Persia. When the time was right, God motioned Esther onto the stage and used her in a starring role to save the Israelite people. God has orchestrated your life in a similar manner. Consider the circumstances God has used to bring you to this place in your life. Do you have a platform you can use for furthering God's Kingdom? Do you have authority that enables you to make decisions that honor Him? Perhaps you can look to your left and your right and see others who need to know the Savior. You are where you are "for such a time as this." Be a modern-day Esther! Take a risk as she did when she went before the king. There is great reward in knowing you are in the center of God's will.

**How might God desire to use you in your current circumstances?**

**Are you willing to take risks for the Kingdom of God?**

**Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:**

2 Kings Chapter 4 (The Key Passage is 2 Kings 4:9-10)

The Shunammite woman saw a need and wanted to meet it. She recognized the Elisha was a holy man of God. She proposed to her husband that rather than just feeding him a meal each time he passed their way, they should provide a room for him in their home. Isn't it kind how she planned the details? She decided that a table, chair, and lampstand in addition to the bed would go into the small room on the roof for Elisha. This simple act of kindness and hospitality was not done for a reward. The woman did not ask for anything in return. But, amazingly, she was granted a son because of her gesture. When you see a need that you are able to meet, meet it! The most basic act of kindness can make all the difference in someone's life. And God sees your good deeds. If not in this life, you will find your reward in heaven. The Lord is pleased when we serve and love one another.

**Have you gone out of your way to show hospitality to someone?**

**Has someone ever been particularly kind to you? How did it make you feel?**
