hello! my name is Rachel, i’m 40 from Chicago, and I’m brand new to swap-bot. I met someone recently who casually mentioned it when I was at a postcrossing meetup and it piqued my interest! Postcrossing, if you are not familiar, is a really cool way to bring people together through the are of physical mail - like swap-bot! That is one of my biggest “craft” passions at the moment - decorating the cards with stamps and stickers… it’s very wonderfully calming and creative!

I love fun stickers, especially the style from my childhood! My favorites include:

• flocked/fuzzy

• puffy

• scratch & sniff

• sparkly/glitter

• chrome/metallic

• anything postage related

Besides my love for swapping/receiving cards, I love fiber arts. I taught myself to cross stitch back in 2020 during the pandemic, and currently im working on my largest piece to date: the stained glass mermaid window from the prefects bathroom in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It’s roughly 24” tall and will probably take me 2 years to complete 😅 I also enjoy embroidery, which I taught myself earlier this year, and crochet. I do want to get into water color at some point in time, and I have my eyes on a glass blowing class as well as a leather bookbinding class!

I adore music. I love to sing and I also play guitar. You can find me singing on YouTube and TikTok under the same username as here.

My current obsession is musical theatre. I try to see as many shows as I can that come to Chicago. The cast recordings I’ve been listening to most lately are (in no particular order)

I just got into reading this year, really! I’ve read over 60 so far, the majority of them being psychological thrillers. I enjoy Freida McFadden and Jason Rekulak a lot. One of my favorite sci fi’s I read this year was “Positive Memory” by Josh Stettner. I often try to complete all the goodreads challenges which I is how I step away from psychological thrillers 😅 I also enjoy Harry Potter (i’m a gryffinpuff), The Hunger Games and semi-embarrassingly, Twilight 😂 so if you send anything twilight related, I’m totally here for it.

Postcards wise, i’m really cool with just about everything. My main request is no religion (although I do enjoy Christmas decor and Hanukkah is good with me), and nothing political - post cards are my happy place, I want to keep it that way 😌 I love how creative people can be with their decorations and absolutely encourage handmade cards! I prefer no envelopes unless the swap calls for it.

Color: purple, pink, tie dye

Animals: pugs (I have one!) and dogs in general, pigs, hippos, capybaras, quokkas, frogs, giraffes, elephants, butterflies, goats, turtles, otters, seals and of course all baby animals!

Mythical creature: mermaids

Food: sushi

Movie: Addams Family Values (yes, the sequel is the superior of the two films)

Season: fall - I love the “ber” months, the falling leaves, sweaters, warm drinks and cozy fireplaces

Holiday - Halloween (I love seeing everyone’s creative costumes!)

Scent: oranges 🍊🥰

Disney things: figment, the haunted mansion, Moana, frozen, the little mermaid, carousel of progress, wall-e, baymax, Star from “Wish”, emperors new groove (pull the lever, kronk!), hocus pocus

I love Disney, especially the parks. I am also a member of D23 and go to the expo every time it’s offered. I love The Muppets! and pedro pascal 😅
